Story
I spent a few days at Dewey Point in Yosemite. It’s on the South Rim of the valley about 4 miles hike from the Glacier Point road. I got there a day earlier than my friends Rick and Mary and spent the day hanging out, reading, sleeping, and enjoying the view. Different groups of hikers came along throughout the day and I was able to talk to every group. One group gave me some extra water, another gave me some wasabi peas, one group included a Park Ranger and checked my Wilderness Permit, and another group just sat and exchanged stories and laughs.
I usually don’t do a lot of talking to folks because I am always on the move. However, the big camera usually starts up some conversations like “that’s one hell of a camera!.” It’s fun to tell people what I do and I hope they are able to remember the podcast name when they get home. I do also have business cards that I hand out when I remember to bring them.
I said it before in another blog post, but people on the trail are always so nice. HIking and backpacking brings you into a world of nature and beauty, but also into a world where people care about each other and actually talk to each other.
I created a Facebook Fanpage where I post more of my trip photos, post short bonus video clips, and message and chat with folks from all over. Please join the Fanpage, I’d love to “friend” you back and see what’s going on with you.
