Story
I have a new project I am embarking on. It’s called HD Scenery. I love to go out and shoot beautiful shots. For me though, I need to have a purpose to get motivated to get out before dawn and drive a couple hours to get a great shot.
That’s not a problem with Beautiful Places because I love traveling, camping, hiking, and everything involved in filming a BP show. Also, the success of the show has really been inspiring. But I have not been able to find the motivation to go out and shoot an average sunrise, a river, or a field of flowers unless it was a full-fledged beautiful place.
HD Scenery is going to be about great shots of whatever looks cool. Long, long shots that just sit on a subject for minutes at a time. No narration, no music, just great shots. This is where I can really study my craft and take chances. Also, I can go anywhere and just see what I can find. It will be a free podcast downloadable on iTunes but there will also be a website where content producers can purchase shots they need for their work. I also want to produce a 30 minute HD TV show, Sunrise Earth Style, but right now I’m just working on great shots.
The photo above is actually a frame of a time lapse video I took a few months ago. I got up hours before sunrise and drove out to this viewpoint in the freezing cold. The sunrise was perfect, and as I was enjoying the view the USS Enterprise came in through the Golden Gate right as the sun was rising. This is why I do what I do. You don’t get to see moments like that unless you get up early and freeze your butt off.
Oh, you can see the moments by watching Beautiful Places, of course, 🙂 or now HD Scenery!!!
This reminds me of the Beautiful Places show named Yosemite in the Snow. I was in the meadow before sunrise and then again at sunset. After shooting the sunset, I got up from my seat and the ice that had formed on my jacket all cracked off like glass. I was the only one there in that meadow who had the pleasure of seeing that sunset. You only get to see it if you are willing to be out in the bitter cold.
So check out the HD Scenery website at www.hdscenery.com and tell me what you think. Expect the podcast in April. The shots are uploading and going on sale as I type this.
